Read why Residents of this Belizean village are against Prince William's visit
Duke of Cambridge Prince Williams and his wife Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, will arrive in Belize on Saturday afternoon for an official tour. The highlight of their tour is a visit to a cacao farm in the Toledo District, which is in the Indian Creek village.

The village, which has been in open conflict with Flora and Fauna International (FFI), is totally against Prince and his wife making a visit.

Residents of Indian Creek who are a conservation group owns a property adjacent to the village - which is contested as part of the village's communal land rights claim. More than that, Prince William is a patron of FFI.

The authorities are making preparations for the Prince's helicopter to land on the village football field. However, people said they weren't consulted and they don't want the Prince in their village.

The villagers met on Friday - and word out of the meeting is that they have planned a protest for 10:30 am Saturday to object to the visit. The incident occurs in the context of ongoing agitation against the state about the meaning of consent in the context of communal land rights - rights to lands that were expunged in the colonial period by the British.

"We note that Flora and Fauna Intentional's royal connections run deep, and Prince William is the latest in a long line of Patrons from the Royal Family that stretches back to the reign of his great-grandfather, King George VI," said the villagers.
