Man in Guyana killed after his vehicle crashed into a dead cow at Mocha Access Road

A man in Guyana was killed after his vehicle crashed by hitting dead cows on the road. As per reports, the deceased has been identified as Vish Narayan. who is described as a “genuinely wonderful soul” by friends and family after news of his demise spread. The incident reportedly occurred close to midnight when Narayan was driving along the new Mocha/Diamond access road; he attempted to swerve from hitting dead cows on the road and ended up crashing into a culvert. The man died while receiving treatment at the hospital. Persons occupying the new housing schemes have been at odds with cattle owners who were using the area for their pasture prior to the housing development. Residents have complained of the cows destroying their water connections and parapets, damaging vehicles, and even butting pedestrians on a few occasions, among other issues. The Ministry made efforts of Agriculture to reach out to the owners and relocate the cattle; however, some still remain as the owners appear more content with having them closer to home for their convenience. The latest incident once again highlights the urgency in ensuring the issue of stray cattle and other livestock are removed from our roadways. Just a few nights ago, a driver crashed into a cow at Dehoop, Mahaica.
