Family seeking financial aid after boss sets their kid on fire in Guyana

A father begs for justice and assistance for his son, who is suffering from second and third-degree burns to his body after his boss, a businessman, reportedly set him on fire a few months ago in Guyana.

Darren Allen, 43, was allegedly doused in gasoline and set flames by his boss at his wash bay and tyre business in Georgetown at around 23:00 hours on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

According to Darren's father, Brian Allen, Darren's former boss's wife and family were good friends, and he felt safe knowing Darren worked for her husband. Brian didn't realise that was the worst thing that had ever happened to him and his family until catastrophe struck.

"On April 27, just two hours before the incident, his wife called me from Guyana, where I was at the time, and informed me that Darren was with her and if I wanted to talk to him, so I replied sure," he claimed. So she called Darren, and we were overjoyed to hear from him because we hadn't spoken to him in over three weeks."

"I then passed the phone to Darren's older brother, and Darren told his brother that he wanted food," he continued. His boss's wife then told his brother that she would send [name withheld] to buy the food and that she had given Darren some clothes because she also sells apparel. The money for the food and clothes was then offered to her by Darren's brother, but she declined."

Brian Allen went on to say that Darren's employer reportedly directed him to start a cigarette two hours later that night. He further said that Darren threatened to shoot him if he refused to comply. The man claimed that he lit the cigarette out of dread of Darren and that as he did so, his employer allegedly spilled gasoline on Darren, setting him on fire.

"As Darren was on balze he run from Dennis Street, directly to Gr Taxi Service, where he has a blackout and fainted," Darren's father stated, breaking down in tears while speaking to this media. People on the scene swiftly extinguished the fire and called an ambulance, which transported him to Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted."

He went on to say that they had no choice but to hire someone to look after Darren till his older brother arrived in Guyana as a result of the incident.

Darren was admitted to the Burn Care Unit and spent more than three months there before being released.

"In May, his big brother came down to Guyana and tried to get help from the police, but he wasn't able to get help since he was continually being pushed around," his father continued. He had to return to the United States shortly after, and I arrived in September. When I arrived, he told me everything, and I was startled. He even told me that he was frequently abused by the man, and that he was hit eight times by his boss. He even told the cops everything because he still remembers the episode."

Darren informed Brain that he would frequently compliment his boss's wife and tell her she looked lovely in the morning. "When his supervisor hears about it, he is told not to be so sweet to his wife." Since then, his supervisor has told him that "it's simply time with me and you," the man stated.

The businessman was detained months after the incident and freed on station bail while the police investigation was ongoing. Nonetheless, there has been no further news on the subject to date.

" I have the impression that they are just dragging because [name withheld] brother is a cop. I'm looking for aid and justice for my son. They are claiming that my son is now insane, but he is not. My son has mental problems, but he is not insane; he is quite aware of what is going on around him. My son isn't mad because Darren is a Tutorial High School Graduate," the guy finished as he sobbed.

However, Darren's father, who is having financial difficulties, is humbly asking for assistance from the public.
