Dominica exchange letters with China to construct 6 schools

China agreed to construct six schools, including five primary schools and one secondary school in different communities of Dominica.

Roseau, Dominica: An Exchange of Letters between the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica and the Government of the People's Republic of China was held on Tuesday.  The letters were exchanged under the supplemental agreement of the Post Hurricane Maria Schools Reconstruction Project. China agreed to construct six schools, including five primary schools and one secondary school in different communities of Dominica.  Prime Minister called the exchanging of letters "a milestone" for China and Dominica bilateral relations. He said that the People's Republic of China assisted the country in bettering health infrastructures, constructing schools and training hospital staff.  "We have also received assistance in agriculture, and China continue to support with knowledge and guidance to help sustain our agriculture sector," said the Prime Minister.  PM Skerrit stated that after Hurricane Maria in 2017, the government of Dominica worked diligently to reconstruct, rehabilitate and build schools islandwide. He said the government intends to provide improved infrastructure to the communities of Thibaud, Bellvue Choppin, Seneku, Tete Monte, Calibishe. He said Dominica's collaboration with the People's Republic of China has helped the country construct roadways, bridges, particularly along the Edward Oliver Leblanc Hwy.  The Government and People of China continue to stand in solidarity with Dominica and aim to strengthen their bilateral relationships.
