Dominica celebrates independence day under the theme "United in Purpose, Our Health, Our Heritage, Our Future,"

Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit congratulated all Dominicans on country's 43rd Independence Day on Wednesday.

The celebrations of Dominica's 43rd Independence Anniversary will be broadcasted live on all radio channels island-wide. The country is celebrating its independence under the theme, "United in Purpose: Our Health, Our Heritage, Our Future,"

Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit also congratulated all Dominicans; he tweeted, "I wish all Dominicans, home and abroad, a very Happy Independence Day. This year, we are celebrating our Independence Day under the theme, "United in Purpose: Our Health, Our Heritage, Our Future". The celebrations will begin at 3 pm onwards at the State House Conference Center, and the event will be broadcast live on all government social media accounts and radio stations."

The Prime Minister will also be delivering his address at the celebrations along with the President of Dominica Charles Savarin.  Awards and Honours The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will be awarded Dominica's highest honour, the "Dominica Award of Honour."  The Sisserou Award of Honour will be given to Maria Holder Memorial Trust, Loreen Bannis Roberts, Paul Ainsley Green and the Maria Holder Memorial Trust. The prestigious Meritorious Service Award will be given to the front liners, including all health teams, Police Force, Fire and Ambulance Services, the Dominica Air & Seaport Authority (DASPA) and the Customs and Excise Division. The Services Medal of Honour will be awarded to Loranna Jno Baptiste, Oliver St. John, Peterson Bardouille, Kelvin Francis.  Anthony Richards, Veronica Cuffy Charles Richards will be awarded the Long Service Award.
