Volcano update: Ash clouds moved towards south and west of St Vincent

La Soufriere volcano continues to erupt aggressively in St Vincent and the Grenadines. NEMO SVG reported that there was an explosive eruption at the La Soufrière at approximately 4:49 p.m. on Sunday, and the ash clouds were observed moving towards the south and west of the island. The alert continues to be red across the island.
It stated that La Soufriere continues to erupt, and the pattern of seismic activity over the last few days is typical of the growth and destruction of lava domes. Explosions with accompanying ashfall of similar or larger magnitude can occur with little or no warning.
As the currently faces drinking water shortages, St Vincent and the Grenadines port authority distributing water at the Barrouallie wharf. Truck drivers currently distributing water in the area are encouraged to come by and fill up.
Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves stated that over 4100 people have been housed in emergency shelters in green zones. He stated the times are very hard for St Vincent and the Grenadines, but people are doing their best.
Many organizations and countries across the region have come forward to help the country in crisis.
St Kitts and Nevis pledged the support of EC 1 million dollars, and Dominica have also declared assistance of a similar amount.Latest
