Two patient care tents from Samaritan's Purse arrives in Bahamas

The Caribbean island of the Bahamas has received two patient care tents from Samaritan's Purse International on Friday, 30th July 30, 2021. It is expected that the additional tents would begin receiving patients ]from Monday, 2 August 2021.

Bahamas: The Caribbean island of the Bahamas has received two patient care tents from Samaritan's Purse International on Friday, 30th July 30, 2021. It is expected that the additional tents would begin receiving patients ]from Monday, 2 August 2021.

The Bahamas government stated that this arrival would boost Princess Margaret Hospital's - PMH ability to provide in-patient care to COVID-19 patients and added that the tents would expand the hospital's Special Pathogens Unit by eighteen beds, with nine beds in each tent.

The design of the tent is designed in such a way that an area within the tent divides for pediatric COVID-19 cases. To erect the tents, eight members of the Samaritan's Purse set-up team would work with the PMH Engineering Team and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force - RBDF.

The Managing Director of PHA - Catherine Weech, and the Hospital Administrator of PMH - Mary Lightbourne Walker, have appreciated Samaritan's Purse for their efforts and again being a true ally to the Bahamas in the battle against the contagious COVID-19 pandemic.

The patients needing in-patient care for severe COVID-19 disease are treated at PMH Legacy Unit, PMH Special Pathogens Unit, South Beach Health Center and Doctors Hospital West.

Samaritan's Purse is an - Evangelical Christian humanitarian aid organization that provides assistance to people in physical need as a critical part of its Christian missionary work.

The organization name is derived from the New Testament Parable of the Good Samaritan. Their international headquarters are in Boone.

Franklin Graham is the current President of Samaritan's Purse. Graham is the son of Christian evangelist Billy Graham.

The Caribbean island of the Bahamas so far has reported a total of 14,677 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus, out of which a total of 12,570 patients have been recovered from the deadly virus, according to the statistics.

Till now, the Bahamas island has reported a total of 286 deaths amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
