Following the arrest of the suspect, he said that the baby and his father are possessed by demons and must be killed to cleanse the village.
According to the reports, the incident took place on Saturday, February 10, 2024, around 7 pm in Rose Hall.
The initial investigations disclosed that the baby girl was kidnapped by the suspect following which she was found in a brutal manner. It has also been found that the suspect is a close relative of the victim.
The reports have also found that the suspect is said to have climbed through a window when her mother was taking a bath and took her to a nearby place where he reportedly took out the act.
The police officials of St Vincent and the Grenadines have said a postmortem examination is expected to be carried out on the infant's body to determine the exact cause of the death. Following the examination, the suspect will appear in court, where charges against him will be laid.The Crime Scene Unit officials have also collected items of evidential value which includes the alleged weapon used to commit the crime.
This incident has shocked the people of the island who are urging the police to give the man the punishment which he deserves.
"Something needs to be done about those mentally demonically ill persons who are just taking innocent lives," wrote a user named Eetonia Hazell, while another user said, "He should be handed over to the village where he committed such hideous and cruel acts."
