St Lucia: People can now register online for COVID-19 vaccine

Prime Minister of St Lucia Allen Chastanet announced on Wednesday that the pre-registrations for coronavirus vaccine in the country are open. He stated that the immunization would be free, and it is also voluntary.
In a video message posted on his Facebook account, Prime Minister stated that he advises people to register for the vaccine online.

He stated that he is proud that all nurses, doctors, firefighters, and police officials in St Lucia are immunized with the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
He added that the fight against coronavirus has now entered a new phase as St Lucia is now equipped to vaccinate its population with vaccine assistance from Barbados and Dominica.

Recently, Prime Minister and his wife were among the few to receive the first doses of Oxford Astrazeneca coronavirus vaccination facilitated by sister nations.
PM Chastanet stated the Ministry of health's pre-registration of the program has begun; the country is encouraged by the thousands of people who want to take the vaccine.
"Vaccine is free and voluntary," added Prime Minister Allen Chastanet.

Notably, St Lucia is among the worse affected countries in the region due to the coronavirus. The country recorded 3,149 cases of the coronavirus and 34 virus-related deaths.
Prime Minister Allen Chastanet's administration relies on its sister nations to provide vaccines to the population as the government has fallen through managing resources.

Dominica and Barbados received around 170,000 doses of vaccines collectively as a gift from India's people and government. The Oxford-Zeneca coronavirus vaccine has been donated to several other Caribbean nations like Guyana, St Kitts, and Nevis.
Caribbean countries are moving ahead to immunise their populations as Barbados, Dominica, St Kitts and Nevis have already established pre-vaccine registrations.
