St Kitts and Nevis: Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley reflected the island’s achievements in providing basic amnesties to the residents. He noted the remarkable progress after careful observations of debates around the region at the time of elections. Through a Facebook post, Premier Brantley contrasted the situation of Nevis with other countries and urged the residents to appreciate the progress being made continuously. While mentioning that in one of the neighbouring areas, he saw a debate about communities not having running water available to them, he reflected, “Every single community in Nevis has access to running water.

He also mentioned that every community on the island is being serviced by roads while citing that some communities around the region have no roads.

Premier Mark Brantley also said that he saw that some areas in other islands do not have garbage collection resources but in Nevis, the solid waste professionals ensure that garbage is collected several times per week across the island. Similarly, he also highlighted that every household and business on the island have access to electricity and every child under 16 must be in school while in other countries these basic amenities are lacking.

He talked about healthcare and said that every resident has access to primary care at community clinics and at Alexandra Hospital which is either free or affordable.

The island also provides various sporting facilities for cricket, basketball, netball, tennis and football to allow the youth to explore their interests.

While urging the residents to appreciate the gradual progress, the Premier said that oftentimes, people take the gains being made in this little island for granted and make minor complaints rather than appreciating the big things.

He also mentioned that people complain of a pothole only because miles of beautifully paved roads make that pothole noticeable and they complain if water goes off for an hour because they have become accustomed to water 7 days a week 24 hours a day.

While noting that the Concerned Citizens Movement government is working hard, the Premier stated, “If you elected this government to do the job of government and we are succeeding at the job you elected us to do, then we are definitely performing as intended.”

He asked everyone to join hands and grow Nevis together and be proud of the little Nevis as the government will continue to achieve more.
