Trinidad and Tobago: A 38-year-old police officer and his wife were brutally beaten by two armed gunmen during an early morning home invasion on Sunday. The suspects took away a few valuables as well as the badge and ID card of the policemen.
According to the information, police reported around 6 am on Sunday that the police officer, his wife, and two children were awakened by the voices of two armed men of African descent. As the family was sleeping, they came out rushing upon hearing the voices.
The bandits then came forward to beat the police officer and his wife while their two kids watched the entire scene helplessly. After a few minutes of beating, the two men asked the policeman to hand over his firearm to them, but he had no firearm.
Following this, the bandits searched the house and relieved a couple of an undisclosed sum of cash, some valuables, the police officer’s ID card, and his badge. After taking all these things into their possession, the two men fled the house immediately.
The couple later sought medical treatment and also made a report to their nearest police station, with the officers reporting that the children were severely traumatized by this incident. The officials of the Princes Town Police Station are continuing to investigate the incident.
Meanwhile, the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago are stating that if the police officers are also being robbed and beaten in the country, then how would they protect the locals?
A citizen named Dhanraj targeted the government and said, “While Rowlie and they have security 24/7 but bashing Kamla when she said police should have firearm all the time. I’m sure if that police had his firearm, the headline would’ve been different.”
Another user suggested, “25 years no parole should be a minimum sentence for home invasion. Ppl deserve to feel safe in their homes.”
