PM Skerrit to be youngest to hold position for two decades
By the time the country reaches in its next parliamentary elections in the year 2024, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit will be the youngest head of government to serve the country for longer than 20 years in continuity

Dominica Labour Party once again proved its majority in Dominica by conquering seventeen out of the cumulative twenty-one parliamentary seats. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit is once again the PM of the nation.
Dr Skerrit assumed the office in 2004 and was the youngest person to hold that position at the age of 31 years by surpassing Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Now, by the country polls for its parliamentary elections in 2024, Dr Skerrit will be the youngest to serve the position in continuity for two decades.
Dominica Labour Party defeated the opposition United Workers Party in election results on Friday evening. The party proved their slogan 'Safer with Labour' as the opposition was causing havoc on the island from several days.
The general elections of 2019 were considered to be the most decisive elections for the nation, and DLP made a historic victory. This is the fifth consecutive term for Dominica Labour Party in the country.
Balloting was held on Friday following high securities concerning the political uncertainties on the nation from past few days.
Lately, the opposition had around six parliamentary seats, but they lost three of the six seats this year. United Workers Party had a long-time hold on Roseau Central parliamentary constituency which is now won by Melissa Skerrit, wife of PM Skerrit.

After the victory of Dominica Labour Party, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit addressed the nation and thanked each and every citizen for proving the majority of DLP once again.
He said that he is extremely happy that Dominicans chose the vision of Dynamic Dominica and together the country shall conquer all its goals listed in the manifesto.
