Prime Minister Dr Honourable Timothy Harris at the Discussions For A Stronger, Safer Future town hall meeting, said that in the near future, the Government Auxiliary Employees (GAEs), who were previously known as Non-established Workers would learn new details about their pension plans. He said that his Government would shortly complete the assessment regarding the regularization of non-establishment workers concerning their pensions.  Further, he said that the Government, when came to the office, put a Committee in place with the help of the actuary Mr Osborne to ascertain the path forward. According to him, the committee has almost completed 95 per cent of its work, and it has been left up to the Office of the Attorney-General to give a legal opinion on the matters raised by the committee for the Government to be able to the effect that question. Dr Harris added that his Government is committed to seeing this process through to its completion. He said that this year, the Government would undoubtedly complete this and have it in place in the next few months. He added that the Government would make a major announcement about fulfilling a promise that it had made to correct the injustice to the Non-establishment Workers. Prime Minister Harris spoke to restoring the compensation to GAEs that was stopped in 2008. He said that he wants to assure that the Government will consider all the factors and indeed two years ago the Government restored the honorarium payment to all non-established Workers and that the Government gave the commitment which it has held through, until the Government makes a final determination on the matter, the honorarium will continue to be paid every year and it has been done this way for the past two years. It is a noticeable fact that The Team Unity Government had activated a Pension Committee in 2017 and had tasked it with devising a pension plan to benefit the workers who were not provided with a pension upon leaving the government job. The committee which was set up then has since its formation, presented multiple findings to the Cabinet of the Government. The Team Unity Government has also employed the services of an actuary to assist in solving all remaining issues relating to the inclusion of the Government Auxiliary Employees into the pensionable establishment.
