Permissions of social-events under review after Grenada discovered cluster of COVID-19 patients

A cluster of 26 coronavirus positive individuals has been discovered in Grenada. Ministry of Health informed in a statement that the cluster originating from Sandals resort include guests and employees of the hotel. Besides this, some contacts of these patients have also tested positive.
As per the health ministry, the cluster was discovered following the testing of frontline staff directly related to tourism and health sectors.
The statement further noted that the cluster has brought a health emergency, and all efforts have been deployed to reduce the threat to the public's health.
"Unprecedented, aggressive efforts have been taken to contain this outbreak of COVID-19 further." added the health ministry.
The health ministry urged people to consider the severity of the situation and follow all the protocols firmly. The statement further cautioned that Grenada would be tightening its approach to coronavirus and restrictions would be imposed.
The statement further read that the government of Grenada have asked its members to limit all social-gatherings and permission previously granted to organisers for upcoming social-events are now under review as an effort to minimise the risk of infection.
"The Government’s first responsibility is to save the lives of our people, and we are determined in taking all necessary steps to do so." added the chief medical officer.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Francis Martin further added that every person should adhere to guidelines and wear a face mask that covers the nose and mouth in public places.
"Practice good hygiene and maintain physical distancing of at least six feet from others." added the CMO.
