Trinidad and Tobago: A male was shot dead while a female was severely injured during a shooting incident inside a bar in Diego Martin, Trinidad, on Tuesday.

According to the information, the deceased has been identified as Apollos Alexander, also known as Black, while the identity of the injured victim remains unnamed.

The police reported that around 12:15 pm, many gunshots were heard inside the apex bar opposite a government office off the Diego Martin main road. They further added that during preliminary investigations, Alexander and the woman were found bleeding from gunshot wounds.

A report was subsequently made to the police, and officers from the West End police station responded and found the lifeless body of the man. The authorities rushed the female to the St James Medical Complex, where she received medical treatment.

The officers then called a district medical officer who responded, viewed the body, and pronounced him dead, following which it was ordered to be removed from the scene.

The officers from the Region One Homicide Bureau and Crime Scene Unit said that they are investigating the incident and are looking for the suspects who carried out this brutal act.

The police also reported that the last murder that took place in Diego Martin was on Saturday, April 27, when 27-year-old Jamal Sogren of Blue Basin Road was shot and killed around his home.

As the authorities are reporting new incidents of shooting in the country, residents are expressing their concerns and urging the administration to take strict actions and control the situation before things go out of hand.

“Really sad to see so many ppl been killed in this country,” wrote a user named Shellyann, while another user named Leo mocked and compared the island nation with Haiti and said, “That’s an everyday thing in Haiti, I mean Trinidad.” This shows the huge increase in crime incidents in the Twin Island nation.
