Inaugural Grand Bahama Food Truck Festival to make a huge impact on tourism
The festival will give business owners an opportunity to showcase their unique items to residents and tourists alike.

Bahamas: The Ministry of Tourism of the Bahamas is gearing up to host the first Food Truck Festival, because of which the tourism sector of Grand Bahama’s is expected to take off. The festival will take place on Saturday, June 22, from 11 am to 6 pm at the beautiful Taino Beach in Freeport.
The festival will give business owners an opportunity to showcase their unique items to residents and tourists alike.
Tourism Ministry’s General Manager Nuvolari Singh shared insights on how the Ministry came up with this unique idea. He said that the result of the Ministry of Tourism receiving inquiries from a number of vendors food truck vendors about participating in the annual Goombay Festival event.
“But for us, to have them featured on the park, along with the tents, didn’t make for a good look. And so we decided that no, we will try and do something else for the truck food truck vendors, so we went around actually, secret tasting, some of these food truck vendors,” he added.
He further noted that the Ministry found that the food they were producing was extremely good, and the team said that they needed to have their own festival.
It is to be noted that the Grand Bahama Island Promotion Board Alive and the Lucayan Service Company collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism for this festival.
The festival will be unique with the General Manager asking the residents to participate in this inaugural edition as it will offer a variety of fun activities to the local community and to the visitors. “We’re so excited to see and taste all the food trucks that are going to be present,” he said.
The event will be wonderful for everyone, especially children, with the families having the opportunity to bring them and experience the different tastes here on the island.
While calling out everyone to join the event, he added, “You are the ingredient needed to ensure that this festival is a success,” and added that people must come out and try every food truck.
