I am 100% Jamaican, declares Foreign Affairs’ Minister to clear spread rumors

Jamaica: There have been rumors in Jamaica for several days that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jamaica- Senator Kamina Johnson Smith is a dual citizen. And, such a talk in the nation has become a matter of discussion for the people around.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, having taken such rumors into consideration, has cleared that she is completely Jamaican. She added that she is 100% Jamaican. To this, she even presented the fact.

She added, “ My father was born in Kingston. My Mother born in Trelawney and I born in Kingston- I am 100% Jamaican.”

Such a declaration by the Minister is of great significance as it can clear all the doubts among the populace of the country. The rumors saying that Johnson Smith is a British National were spreading in the nation like fire. To this, the reaction of the public was very unpredictable. As some were criticizing it and to some, it was fine. 

One of the citizens on this mentioned, “ What is good for one is also good for others, even if she is a British citizen, she is not in breach of the constitutions. If the government was working in the best interest of the Jamaican people, there would be no need to be using the race card with the hope that the voters will overlook their poor performance and vote for them to continue in their corrupt ways. Politicians should not be afraid to lose power since they serve at the will of the voters.”

Such words by the population clearly state the impact that rumors lay. One even stated, “ Every Jamaican born before independence is British, so everyone should take a chill pill. And everyone born after independence is a dual citizen, they are born under the governor general acting on behalf of the Queen/King.”

Besides the impact that rumpus had on the public, the declaration by the cabinet cleared all the doubts.
