Bahamas: A double shooting incident in the Bahamas left one man dead and another severely injured. The incident took place shortly before 10 pm on Monday on Bahama Avenue, just off Market Street.

According to Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings, the victim has been identified as 37-year-old Bernard Lewis. She reported that the victim was exiting a business establishment along with a family member when they were approached by a heavily tinted Nissan Vehicle.

The reports added that one male exited the vehicle and was armed with a high-powered weapon. He opened fire on the victim while shooting him several times about the body.

Police say the victim, who survived, was shot in the lower body. As for how they intend to solve this case, Chief Superintendent Skippings said, “We are now a technology-driven organization, and so we are going to utilize the technology in this immediate area to assist us with our investigations.”

It is to be noted that this murder came less than 24 hours after a 19-year-old was shot while walking on Pinedale Road, off Wolf Road, just after midnight on Monday. He later died in hospital, with the murder count topping 50 so far for the year.

The police officials are appealing to the residents that, “We as a country, especially our males, we need to be able to sit down and talk. Males need to mentor younger males and show them how to resolve their conflicts.”

“Walk them through and if you don’t know how to resolve a conflict, then reach out to the various agencies that we have here in our country with trained personnel who know, who have the skills to be able to resolve conflict,” they further added.

As the homicides are on a surge in the country, the authorities are also urging the general public to stay safe and report any suspicious activity to the police.
