Fresh Water Lake Hike in Dominica

The Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association is all set to host the Hike Fest 2024 under the theme ‘Nature is Calling’. The event will take place from May 4 to 25 and will feature four days of unique hikes across the island nation.

The event aims to promote and create a greater appreciation of the wonderful attractions Dominica has to offer.

While encouraging everyone to be a part of this unique and exciting event, the organisers said, “Calling all Hikers! Calling all Explorers! Calling all Nature Lovers! Registration for Hike Fest is Now Open!” The DHTA also said that interested individuals can register through this LINK.

The schedule of Dominica Hike Fest 2024 is as follows:

May 4 – Segment 13 Penville to Capuchin (adults) | Cabrits to Capuchin (Teens) May 11 – Jaco Flats – Maroon encampment of escaped slaves May 18 – Segment 5 (part), Pont Casse to Emerald Pool May 25 – Night Hike – Fresh Water Lake Loop Hike

The last day of the hike will be much more exciting around the Fresh Water Lake. It is the largest of Dominica's four lakes. It is located at just over 2,500 ft above sea level and is the natural source of the Roseau River.

A hike along the Freshwater Lake Trail provides an opportunity to study Dominica's higher forests. Montane forest, which can be recognized by its short, thin trees and open canopy, covers the majority of the area surrounding the lake. The shallow soils and strong winds do not permit the luxuriant growth that is so characteristic of the rain forest. The registration will include transportation (round trip), guides, security and facilitators, T-Shirts, Sponsor paraphilia and coffee/tea. The hikers will be accompanied by certified tour guides, medical personnel and police escorts.

Also, food and drinks will be available for sale after each hike. The DHTA said that the participants can purchase these on discounted prices. Not only this, but the winners will also get amazing prizes for each hike.

It is to be noted that there are around 26 hiking trails in Dominica and this event is being hosted especially for the ones who loves adventure but does not want to go on a hike alone.

The four days of the event is featuring some of the best hikes available in Dominica, giving the participants an exclusive chance to explore the island in a way they never did earlier.
