Saint Lucia: The Caribbean Studies Association (CSA) Conference of this year, 2024 has already commenced in Saint Lucia yesterday. It will be live till June 8, 2024 at the Harbor Club.
The CSA Conference is conducted in the country in collaboration with the Sir Arthur Lewis college community in collaboration with the University of the West Indies (UWI) Global Campus. The Caribbean Studies Association is an organization that is dedicated to the advancement of Caribbean Studies from a multidisciplinary and multicultural perspective.
The CSA was established in 1974 by 300 Caribbeanists and the organization boasts over 1100 members from all over the world. Considerably, the conference aims at discussion, exchanging and promoting academic scholarships on the Caribbean subjects.
The conference for the year 2024 centers around sustainable development in the Caribbean region. The conference aims at strengthening policy dialogues, promoting collaborations and addressing regional issues.
This six day long conference has various specific events which will take place in the country. As the conference commenced yesterday, an opening ceremony and welcome took place in the morning from 8:30am to 10:30am. After this, Plenary 1 including Development Cooperation in the Caribbean: Innovation, Technology, Integration and Growth was held.
Thereafter, a workshop was held involving; Land, Skies, and Seas: an open discussion on Ecological Crises, Climate Action, and Caribbean Futures. Afterwards, Film Screening of Shantaye’s World took place.
