Circumstances is no longer a reason to migrate: Melissa Skerrit
Roseau Central Candidate speaks up for Dominica
During an address to public meeting in Guadeloupe over the weekend, the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) candidate for Roseau Central, Melissa Poponne-Skerrit, said that circumstances are no longer reason that people of Dominica should migrate.
If Dominicans are going to live in aboard, let it be by choice as the DLP is building a new country which will accommodate the needs of both its youth and old population, she added.
According to her, Dominica will be a place where people can comfortably return and retire after their work overseas.
She said, “The world-class hotels that are going up will provide employment opportunities at all levels of operation for young and adult Dominicans. The new hospitals will again provide choice for those wishing to return home in the evening of their days."
Although, the Roseau Central candidate is hopeful and promising that a re-elected DLP government will work with existing ferry operators to see how they can expand and improve transportation between Guadeloupe, Martinique and Dominica.
She also said that DLP will give new life to Roseau with the aim of creating a bustling city that no longer sleeps at sunset.
