Greek billionaire Alkiviades David, who has plans to invest in the development of partnerships with local farmers interested in the legal cannabis industry, through his company Swiss X, has caused a stir with his response to questions about a meeting with St Kitts and Nevis' Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.
David, while providing details about the arrest of his friend Chase Ergen at a press conference on Monday indicated that talks with Prime Minister Harris broke down after he - David - was asked to do something that he did not wish to do.
He was asked for some insight into his meeting with Prime Minister Harris and if he can elaborate on his statement about being asked to do something that he did not wish to do.
Before David could respond, his legal team, at the back of the room, interjected with repeated NO's.
The billionaire businessman was again questioned about allegations of solicitations by the Prime Minister from him, at the conclusion of the press conference and his response was quote, “Not in so many words”.
Interestingly, one year ago, a British High Court judgment named Dr Harris among two Caribbean politicians involved in the bribery scandal that led to the resignation of Hon Asot Michael, an Antigua and Barbuda government minister.
In the judgment, British billionaire and property tycoon, Peter Virdee told his business partner that Prime Minister Harris begged him for campaign funds, a pair of shoes and an expensive watch.
The allegations stemmed from a conversation recorded by man police, in which an energy project was being discussed for St. Kitts.
