Reaffirming the date of General elections in Dominica, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said that it doesn’t matter how high opposition jumps the elections are going to held on December 6, 2019. “We are going out on December 6, and we are voting Dominica Labour Party,” PM asserted.
While talking about United Workers Party’s manifesto, he said that UWP have slated a hike in base tax which will affect all the Dominicans as people will have bear a big crunch on their pocket. “In one part they mentioned to increase the taxpaying base of Dominica and on another, they have not mentioned anything about the housing situation for Dominicans, they have not mentioned healthcare in their manifesto, UWP have not mentioned the school transport programme in their manifesto, because they are not interested in public friendly schemes.”
Every time the bill was presented to enact laws for the welfare of the people, UWP always voted against it. He also added that international news organisation Al-Jazeera came to Dominica investigating the matter and when the suspicion was centralised on Lennox Linton, they also investigated him. What they found was shocking as Linton was already selling Dominica’s diplomatic passport for more than 1 million dollars.
While talking on the recent incident of Marigot violence, PM Skerrit said a cruise ship having more than 1000 passengers will be arriving tomorrow in Dominica and demonstration of violence by UWP is going to affect the local vendors, tourist guides and taxi drivers in Dominica. The opposition is so desperate to win the elections that they can go to any extent whether it is inhumane.
