A businessman couple was brutally shot dead by assailants in Belize on Thursday. As per reports, the couple was leaving Sumathi Restaurant on Baymen Avenue when they were attacked by two men on a motorcycle.

The deceased has been identified as fifty-year-old Anil Asnaney and his forty-four-year-old wife, Manisha Asnaney.

Local media reporters stated that the couple was leaving Sumathi Restaurant on Baymen Avenue just after eight o'clock. Upon entering their vehicle, they were approached by two men on bicycles. The assailants then fired as many as five shots in their direction, killing Anil Asnaney on the spot and injuring his wife, who was later rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

As per information, the victims were owners of a clothing store on Albert Street. According to the police, the motive does not seem to be robbery at this time; their investigations continue.

It is suspected that the assailants acted on some personal grudges and were known to the whereabouts.
