Category five hurricane Dorian devastated the entire island of Bahamas. The natural catastrophe has destroyed more than 13 thousand houses and killed 43 people so far. However, the actual death toll is sure to rise. The rescue operation is still undergoing in most of the areas of the country
Even though the Bahamas is receiving help from throughout the globe but the situation is changing with the speed of a snail. The shattered people of Bahamas are forced to evacuate from the island as they seem to see no hope coming for them.
Carrying their meager possessions in duffel bags and shopping carts, hundreds of desperate storm victims gathered at the port in Grand Abaco on Friday in hopes of getting off the hurricane-devastated island, amid signs of rising frustration over the pace of the disaster-relief effort.
“The government is for sure doing their best efforts, but at the same time, I don’t think they’re doing a good enough job to evacuate the people. It ain’t livable for nobody. Only animals can live here.” said an individual waiting for a boat to the capital Nassau.
People waiting for the boat says that they do not have food or water and it is getting crazier to see dead bodies floating on water, the situations seem to get scary after time.
The Bahamian Health Ministry said helicopters and boats were on the way, but officials warned of delays because of severe flooding.
The search for victims and survivors went on; meanwhile, five days after Dorian slammed the Bahamas with 185 mph winds that obliterated countless homes.
There were no government-organized evacuations yet, but the Royal Bahamas Defense Force helped people board a 139-foot ferry that had come to pick up its employees and had room for an additional 160 people. The crowd waited calmly as marines separated women and children to let them board first.
