A man has been charged in relation to the death of a man shot on 1 January.
Edward Augustin, 26, was taken before the magistrates court yesterday, accused of killing Derrick Peters.
Both the victim and the alleged killer lived on Sandwich Street.
According to Pelham Jno Baptiste, the public relations office for the police, the Peters “sustained a gunshot wound to the back of his neck” during the attack, just hours into 2018.
Peters was official pronounced dead after being taken to the Reginald Fitzgerald Amour Hospital, he added.
Augustin was denied bail, and has been remanded in custody at Dominica State Prison.
Yesterday Baptiste confirmed that Dominica had recorded 19 murders during 2017.
