Several Killed after aircraft heading to Beni crashes in DR Congo's Goma

A small plane with at least 19 people on board crashed in the eastern city of Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Six bodies have been recovered so far. No survivors have expected an official at Goma airport told on Sunday.

A small plane with at least 19 people on board crashed in the eastern city of Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Six bodies have been recovered so far.

No survivors have expected an official at Goma airport told on Sunday.

The plane operated by a local company Busy Bee crashed during take-off for a flight to the city of Beni.

Near Goma airport, the Dornier-228 aircraft crashed into a residential area.

Busy Bee staff member told the plane was carrying 17 passengers and two crew members.

Because of lack in safety standards and poor maintenance air accidents are relatively frequent in the DRC

All of the country's commercial carriers, including Busy Bee, are prohibited from operating in the European Union.

In October, a cargo plane take-off from the same airport and crashed after an hour, Killing all eight passengers and crew members.
