Woman allegedly lures man into robbery over TT$2,300 Nike sneakers

Trinidad and Tobago: A 44-year-old man reportedly removed his $2,300 pair of Nike Air Max 95 sneakers before he got ambushed and robbed by two men known to him, as he allegedly got lured into removing his shoes by them in Port of Spain on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

According to the police reports, the victim was on Independence Square North at around 12:10 a.m., when he reportedly got approached by a woman he recognised from seeing around the casino.

He noted that the woman told him that someone was interested in purchasing the blue Nike Air Max 95 sneakers he was wearing. He believed the offer was genuine, and agreed to remove his shoes.

The man removed his shoes and placed them in a white plastic bag, then he followed the woman out of the casino, across Independence Square North and onto the Promenade.

As they reached a red tent near Mario’s Pizzeria, the man got confronted by two men he identified by the nicknames “Boyo” and “Otis”, he said he knew them from Duncan Street, Port of Spain.

According to the reports, the police noted that the men allegedly began hurling bricks at the victim, which caused several injuries to the victim.

The victim tried to flee for safety and in that process, he allegedly dropped the plastic bag that contained his Nike Air Max sneakers as he ran west along the Promenade.

The victim reported the incident to the police officers from the Area West criminal Investigations Department, and later returned to the scene with them. However, they couldn’t find anything there as the bag containing the Nike Air Max had disappeared.
