Trinidad: Neighbours discover decomposing body of 39-year-old man in Princes Town home

Trinidad and Tobago: Residents of the Princes Town have discovered a decomposing body of a 39-year-old man, as they followed a foul odor coming from one of the homes in the neighborhood on Monday, August 10.

According to the police reports, the deceased has been identified as Anil Ramdial, of Garth Road. The neighbours noted that he is known as “Greg”, around the community.

The officials noted that the two neighbours noticed a strong smell around 7:30 a.m. and became concerned. They decided to go and check the origin of the foul odor and noticed that the smell was coming from Ramdial’s home and went to check on him.

As they entered his residence, they found him unresponsive and in an overly decomposed stage. They immediately contacted the emergency personnels and the officers from the Princes Town Police Station reported to the scene.

The officers were directed to the living room area where they found Ramdial seated in a chair. The police officers noted that they were unable to establish if the man had suffered any injuries or showed any significant signs of violence due to the advanced decomposition of the body.

Ramdial was subsequently taken to the Forensic Science Centre at the Federation Park for a detailed post-mortem examination to determine the circumstances concerning his death. However, the results have not come out yet as the examinations continue.

The officers commenced their investigations and learned that Ramdial was last seen alive around 7:30 p.m. on August 5 by his employer as he was dropped home after work.

His employer added that Ramdial reportedly contacted him, two days later, through WhatsApp, at approximately 5:45 a.m. on August 7. In the message he wrote that he was feeling unwell and would be unable to report to work.

Further investigations in the matter are underway as WPC John-Lee is leading the investigation.
