St Kitts and Nevis is expecting a robust 2022-2023 cruise ship season. Many cruise ships are deciding to put the twin-island country on their itinerary. Following the high demand, Minister of Tourism Lindsay Grant announced that the Ministry of Tourism is once again accepting applications for taxi operators.

He stated that all taxi drivers can take the application forms that are available at the Ministry of Tourism during regular working hours. He emphasized that all applications will be approved based on conditions in the market.

The government has also approved a Gas Subsidy for travel approved taxi operators, which can be availed by filling a form.

“The Ministry of Tourism will continue to do all that can be done to assist you in these times of economic difficulty. That is why I am happy to reveal that Cabinet has approved a Gas Subsidy for Travel Approved Taxi Operators for three months to the value of EC$400 per month. To apply for this subsidy, you are asked to complete the forms at the Ministry of Finance," said Minister Grant earlier this month.

St Kitts and Nevis is making significant efforts to uplift the tourism sector. A delegation of the Tourism Ministry is currently participating in a three day long Seatrade Cruise Global 2022 in Miami.

The statistics tell how much cruise passengers love visiting St Kitts and Nevis. The country received a whopping 1.17 million cruise passengers between 2013 and 2018.

The government of St Kitts and Nevis also relaxed COVID-19 related measures for cruise ship passengers, and vaccinated travellers are no longer required to undergo COVID-19 testing upon arrival.

Notably, Lindsay Grant is also awarded the "Best Tourism Minister in the Caribbean" by Caribbean Journal. He was awarded for his extraordinary efforts to boost the tourism industry in St Kitts and Nevis.
