Timothy Harris announces salary hike for government workers
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr. Timothy Harris declared a hike in salaries and wages of government workers.

Basseterre, St Kitts, and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr. Timothy Harris declared a hike in salaries and wages of government workers. He said the Financial Secretary would put forth a consideration proposal on how much it would cost to give an increase.
He also stated that he had already directed authorities for increased salaries and wages for civil servants and mandated the Ministry of Finance to put forward recommendations for consideration. PM said in the near future, more details would be announced.

Harris said suggestions also include measures to reduce gas prices at the pumps reduction of certain taxes to make the cost of living more manageable for the people. "I was pleased to have shared the success of our economy with you, and in 5 years, my government paid a record double salary four times in a row. Last year for the 5th time, we gave you a surprise Christmas gift with another double salary," said the Prime Minister during the 6th People's Labour Party Convention on Saturday. Furthermore, he stated that his government is actively formulating policies to contain the spiraling cost of living as a result of matters outside our borders and beyond control. The Ministry of Finance has been mandated to put forward recommendations for consideration. Prime Minister also acknowledged the work done by his government in recent years. He noted that the government successfully delivered three stimulus packages providing $1,000 monthly support to thousands of displaced workers. He reiterated that the government continues to provide affordable housing to people. "It is a critical part of our philosophy to create a property-owning society," said the Prime Minister. PM also talked about the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in St Kitts and Nevis; he said the government did extremely well in handling the economic and health crisis.Latest
