The accused, who was thirteen at the time of the crime, said that the girl was like a sister to him, and he used to ride a bike and play with her. To protect the identities of both the murdered child and the accused, the names of the two juveniles and other participants in the case are being suppressed.
During his testimony at the court on Wednesday, the boy's testimony matched with the detective constable's earlier evidence regarding the answers the youngster provided during a question-and-answer session with his counsel present. The boy, however, disputed several of the accusations made against him.
He testified to the court that the girl went to the tree after some of his classmates declined his request to collect apples. He claimed that he followed her as she climbed over a barbed wire fence but eventually lost sight of her.The teenager said that when he noticed two males standing next to the girl, he first peered under a bridge to his left and then to his right. One of the men, he claimed, carried a "long rusty machete," and he was a man he knew. The other had a rifle and was disguised.
The accused claimed the man wearing the mask pushed him to the ground, unbuckled his belt, pulled out his penis, and put on a condom before raping the youngster for four to five minutes. He claimed the man holding the machete kept watch behind him. The accused claimed that although the girl shouted, the offender urged her to "shut up."
He claimed that the man he knew dropped his machete, followed a similar path, and then squeezed the girl's throat. The boy claimed the girl kicked for some time before stopping. According to the accused, the man in the mask instructed him to return home and keep the incident a secret.
