Policeman and wife robbed, beaten by armed men in Trinidad

A female from the Stapleton area in St Kitts is the latest victim of a spate of armed robberies, the sixth in seven days throughout St Kitts and Nevis.

"Reliable reports indicate that three masked gunmen held up the woman sometime last night, April 11. Fortunately, there have been no reports of any injuries," Kyss 102.5 FM reported Friday.

It is not yet clear whether the assailants were able to make off with any valuables but Kyss FM said police have confirmed the incident and have indicated that the matter is under investigation.

The latest incident came less than 24 hours after an attempted robbery of Foxy's Eatery on Wednesday night (April 10) when four armed and masked men waited outside the shop that sells bread and saltfish on Johnson Street. Suspected that something was amiss, the small businessman remain in the back of the building when asked to come to the front.

Police Thursday confirmed the armed robbery of a Chinese restaurant in Old Road on Tuesday night (April 9).

Another Chinese restaurant in the building that once housed Radio One on Wellington Road, St Kitts, was robbed by three armed and masked men who took money customers and the cash register on April 7.

On the night of April 6, an armed and masked man held up a bar in Clay Ghaut, Nevis, demanded money and escaped with an undisclosed sum of money. No one was injured.

In broad daylight on April 5, three armed and masked men robbed an elderly Brazziers resident in Nevis of an undisclosed sum of money. Shots were fired and the victim was treated at Nevis' Alexandra Hospital and discharged.
