St Lucia: St Lucia Electoral Department announced the election date for general elections as 26th July 2021. After the declaration of the date main opposition party of St Lucia, i.e. Saint Lucia Labour Party head  Philip J. Pierre  addressed the nation and named this election campaign as ' Rescue Mission.'  In his address, he stated that the previous government got enough time to accomplish their lofty promises and displeased to fulfil even a single promise since 2016.  Remembering the election campaign of 2016 leader of the opposition said that at that time Chasnaet government came into power in the name of high fuel prices, but the highest rate of fuel price St Lucia has had witnessed in the Allen Chastanet regime. He also criticised the current government on the issue of increasing crime rate in the island country; a number of incidents of homicides have spiked with rocketry speed in the Chashenet regime. He also slammed on the issue of construction of hospitals and social infrastructure, " Current government has halted the construction works; also our time development project has been stooped after 2016. "  He added, " St Lucia witnessed highest infection and mortality rates in the OECS; this is the outcome of poor handling of coronavirus. "  Philip J. Pierre also raises the issue of farmers during his significant speech; he noted that farmers at their vulnerable stage, and there is no bigger agricultural export, Banana farmers at their worst conditions.  Farmers have dual problems, one natural disastrous and secondly, that coronavirus pandemic hits very hard to the St Lucian farmers.  He also raises the issue for the students of St Lucia; he noted that the Allen Chastanet government halted the laptop scheme by the government, due to which students go away from the technical studies, and it directly affects during the COVID-19 pandemic time.  He also informed that St Lucia economy is the worst performer in the independent member of the OECS.  He also blamed the current government for the current situation of the country, " UWP promised growth rate of 12%, but now GDP has contracted very poorly as it was before 2014. "  He added, " I'm not showman; I'm the true tested son of St Lucia. "  Ground Reality of St Lucia :  Your WIC News knows for their unbiased and investigative journalism, our reporters at the ground for many months, and a group of reporters felt some observations and told us ground reality.  Reporter observation 1 :  The reporter observed that, as the current government completely failed to fight against this world pandemic, people were inaccessible to get proper testing Kitts and vaccines were not as enough as many other Caribbean countries were getting.  Allen Chastanet not only failed on the issue of home affairs, but he also failed on foreign diplomatic affairs.  So, Reporter 1 observed that people have some anger regarding mismanagement in a hard time of coronavirus. So they are eagerly waiting for a change in the government. Leslie Charles, the resident of Castries, said, " We gave Allen Chastanet for five years, but he failed to fulfil our wishes; most importantly, we didn't get support from the government during the pandemic time. "   Reporter observation 1 :  Our Reporter observed that people have experienced that as the country's infrastructure suddenly halted after 2016, so they felt very deprived as compared to other Caribbean countries. They also experienced huge job losses on the ground level. "  Lucita Florius, another resident of Castries, stated that her husband lost her job due to this pandemic, also her brother Mark who has a shop of vegetables that used to supply vegetables in the hotel before 2016, but after the Chastanet government, he used to involved in unlawful activities. Reporter observation 3 :   Our reporter has observed in several months; people are feeling very unsafe in the small Island country, increases in homicide reflect as major concerns, people are killed like animals, there are serval reasons behind increases in-country and unemployment are considering as the main factor.  Edward, the resident of Canaries, said, " Honestly, I voted UWP in the year 2016, and for last three years, I'm regretting my major mistake; we really want SLP in this election, though I was a hardcore supporter of UWP. My father was also involved with John Compton. But as a new generation, we have to switch towards SLP and with Philip J. Pierre, as his vision looks more practical. Conclusion Now, election dates have been announced and bother the political parties are showing their vision of St Lucia; now, it's up to people how and to whom they will choose for their own developments.  We WIC News appeals to all the people of SaintLucian to use their universal franchise right and must cast their vote; we will regularly update throughout this election.
