Matt Main, Dan Seager, Ian Allen, Mike Forrester & Rob Clarke finished the row with a huge crowd waiting for them at the dockyard, including their family and friends.
When asked about their experience on the Atlantic, skipper Matt said it was "an amazing experience" and added, "We had challenging conditions with headwinds and big waves, but that worked well for us as a five-person team, and low times were overshadowed by rowing in the moonlight and clear skies. I can't believe it's over - it seemed like it would never end!".https://twitter.com/hmsoardacious/status/1747711884751507659
The five Royal Navy Submariners maintained an impressive lead throughout the entire race. Through challenging weather conditions and rogue waves, their teamwork and relentless positivity echoed in every stroke of their oars.
"You can't fight it, you get knocked down, you get hit again and again, but you need to get back up, get your head together and pull yourself together with the team - and we did," said Mike.
HMS Oardacious took on this journey to raise awareness for The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity and the Submariner Memorial Appeal.
The organisers of this extremely difficult challenge congratulated the team and outlined, "Their tireless effort, unyielding dedication and accomplishment have left us all in awe. Join us in extending a thunderous applause to our Atlantic 2023 WINNERS."
To make this moment even more special, the organisers said that the team had smashed their £15,000 target, raising £17,395 at the time of writing.
Also, following the completion of their journey, their crew shared glimpses of the overwhelming moment, which captured the tears and happiness of the team and their loved ones.
