The Northern Entertainment Committee (NEC) is all set to launch the Possie Carnival in the streets of Portsmouth Town from January 13

Dominica: The Northern Entertainment Committee (NEC) is all set to launch the Possie Carnival in the streets of Portsmouth Town from January 13 onwards. The Carnival will be held on different dates and venues and will feature various celebrities and DJs from across the nation under the theme "Back to Basics". Possie Carnival is expected to attract a massive crowd to participate in the festivities. It will also provide a chance for the visitors to immerse themselves in the rhythms of the famous Bands around the town. The other major attractions will also comprise a series of fun activities, food and some exciting performances. The First Event, Portsmouth Town Carnival, will be held on January 13, 2024, from 2 PM onwards. It will feature a Signal Band comprising over five performances, including Flagwavers, Bacchanal Ladies, Stilt Walkers, Sansay, Loko Kabwit, Band Mauvai and many more. The Second Event, Jouvert (NEC & Chromos Colab) and Monday Street Jump Up, will be held on February 12, 2024, featuring Riddim Knockaz. The last Event, Tuesday Last Lap, will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. This event will be powered by BBS. Prior to the above events, the Carnival will also host the pre-opening Possie Town Carnival Parade on Saturday, February 10, 2024. It will feature the highly anticipated beautiful contestants of the Stranded, 'The Beach - Miss Carnival Bikini Competition' from 11 AM to 8 PM. Further, the tickets will be priced at $45 for early registrations and $65 for regulars. The winner of this main event will be awarded an exciting cash prize of $5000. The Northern Entertainment Committee officially announced the festival earlier this week. The Committee is delighted to host this festival and is grateful to all the sponsors and volunteers for their consistent support in making this Carnival happen. "Stronger Every Day.
