In a new social media post, Mr Bayley published an update on the restart plans of the Royal Caribbean, which read like a milestone on the company's journey back to full operations.
During the "Ups and Downs and Twists and Turn" process, he was unquestionably proud that by the end of August, 13 cruise ships under RC would be back in service, representing half of the fleet.
"All of our ships are starting to work with reduced capacity due to the government mandate," he shared on Facebook.
Mr Bayley also spoke about the realities of the cruise and that while there were Covid-19 cases aboard the ship, they were limited.
"Because all guests have to be tested before they board, regardless of vaccine status, we usually get around 2 to 10 passengers (guests) a week who are denied boarding due to testing positive. He said the numbers are extremely limited as thousands of board the cruise liner for every trip."We have Covid-positive guests on board," Mr Bayley shared. "Yes! How many guests are positive? Typically 1 or 2 out of thousand-plus guests per week per ship."
Mr Bayley attributes the cases captured on board as a result of an incubation period for the virus, "Testing the status at some point, and when the guest incubates the infection, the test misses it."
He said sometimes vaccinated guests also test positive for coronavirus onboard. However, such patients are typically asymptomatic."When the COVID-19 started to spread in 2020, cruise ships were severely impacted, with thousands of people testing positive on board, lack of medical assistance and lockdown in their host countries. Many nations had to rescue their citizens from cruise-ships after the outbreaks insanely affected the guests as well as staff members of certain cruise ships.
