Guyana: President signals end of COVID guidelines, face masks no longer mandatory
Signalling the end of COVID-19 limitations on social activities and gatherings, President Dr Irfaan Ali declared new guidelines.

- All operators and passengers of any land, water, or air transportation must produce a negative PCR test or approved antigen test taken within 72 hours of arrival in Guyana, as well as confirmation of vaccination.
- Where vaccination is required, the cards must be stamped and printed in English or have a certified translation into English, according to the new laws.
- Employers must also guarantee that relevant COVID-19 guidelines are established and implemented to decrease the risk of virus transmission among workers.
- Employers and business owners must also maintain handwashing stations or sanitizing equipment at the entrance to the workplace or business premises.
- Masks are required for all personnel and guests.
- Religious leaders are also urged to keep these sanitization routes open.
- The new laws also clarify that wearing a face mask is no longer required, especially in public.
- Testing for the coronavirus is still ongoing.
- Anyone who tests positive is also being urged to isolate themselves and inform the Ministry of Health of their results.
- The old regulations, which were released on February 11, 2022, have been replaced by these guidelines.
