Guyana: President Ali gets courtesy visit from Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at

The group included Missionary in Charge, Maqsood Ahmed Mansoor; National President Claude (Noorain Hussain) Washington, General Secretary Mr Aftabudin Nassir and Regional Missionary (Linden) Mr Fahd Peerzada.
President Ali was briefed on the organisation's partnership with NGO Humanity First Guyana on humanitarian activities, including meals for the needy, medical outreaches and free English classes for foreigners. In 2022, the Jama'at intends to start computer classes for Guyanese in Georgetown.The members also gifted the President several religious books.
Ahmadiyya is an international Islamic movement founded in 1889 in India with membership in over 200 countries.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at (Guyana) was established in 1960; Islam is the third largest religion in Guyana after Christianity and Hinduism.The first Ahmadiyya missionary to Guyana came in 1908; later, a community was built in the nation in the 1960s and has many mosques across the country, including Georgetown, Rosignol, New Amsterdam and Sisters Village.
This Ahmadiyya reform movement, organised in India in the late nineteenth century, also has followers of the Afro-Guyanese community. On May 24, 2017, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at held its first-ever Tabligh at the largest mall of Guyana – the Giftland Mall.
