Dominica: After the devastating landfall of back-to-back two natural disasters in 2015 and 2017, Tropical Storm Erika and Category 5 Hurricane Maria, respectively, left thousands of Dominicans homeless as more than 90% of the infrastructure was scattered into pieces.

Reviving the spirit of the Dominican people, Prime Minister had announced that the government would build over 5000 climate-resilient houses in a quick response to the greatest need of the country. Incredibly, with the help of Montreal Management Consultants Est, the country has so far constructed and handed over 1100 homes to Dominica families and work on other hundreds of homes is going on. With the construction of over 5000 climate-resilient houses, Dominica is on the path to becoming the world’s first climate-resilient nation. MMCE has been a long-standing workmate of Dominica, which is helping the nature island to not only build houses but also with the most anticipated project of the new international airport – that will accommodate long haul direct flights to Dominica.

The housing revolution comes up with the evolution of the quality of living in Dominica as the new housing communities have been designed and are being constructed to withstand any category five hurricane or other natural disasters. The government is providing fully integrated housing to cater for the needs of Dominican citizens.

“Once you have decent accommodation with access to the amenities, like water and light, your standard of living automatically improves. As part of human nature and in the animal kingdom, the pre-occupation is to find shelter,” stated PM Skerrit.

In a Cabinet statement, Housing Minister, Reginald Austrie said that Dominica partering with MMCE is on the right path to achieve the goal of modern, resilient housing delivery to the people of Dominica as promised by the government.

According to the government, the homes consist of 3-bedroom and 2-bedroom units with concrete roofs and walls to withstand any disaster. Apart from this, the houses also contain solar water heaters, kitchen setup and world-class bathrooms.

The government of Dominica and MMCE have built houses for those who were displaced due to natural disasters. The CEO of Montreal Management Consultants Establishment Ltd, Dr Anthony Haiden, stated that their company is using only the best construction practices to build the houses for the people of Dominica.

Apart from housing and airport, MMCE is also constructing schools, medical centres, hospitals among many other significant projects to uplift the country towards ultimate development goal.
