COVID-19 starts to come under control in Dominica
After months of increase in coronavirus cases, the outbreak in Dominica is finally coming into control. The recent data shows only 49 people tested positive in two days, and around 19 were discharged from health facilities.

Out of the recent 49 patients, three were diagnosed with PCR and the remaining 46 using the Antigen COVID-19 testing method.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment reported there are currently 481 active cases of coronavirus, and the country also recorded 24 virus-related deaths.

Besides this, more than 3388 people successfully recovered from the contagious virus in Dominica.

The virus load in Dominica is coming into control. The majority of cases were recorded after hundreds attended a Lot event in July 2021.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Dominica, the country recorded only 3893 cases, which is much lower than some of the sister islands of the country. It was also the first country to be able to carry out coronavirus testing in local labs. The authorities have tested over 78,187 people, while only 3388 tested positive.

The government is also pacing up the vaccination drives. Now, taking a COVID-19 shot in Dominica is much easier than it was before. Over 26,294 people have received the first dose of the vaccine, while around 21,797 are now fully vaccinated against the virus.

Vaccination for children over 12 is also open. The country is using Pfizer to protect the kids against COVID-19. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit recently encouraged parents or guardians to vaccinate their children and the elderly.

As the vaccine numbers go up, major cruise lines are also making a stop in Dominica. The country is expecting around 274 cruises this tourist season. With the inflow of tourists, Dominica is likely to overcome the financial and economic effects caused by the pandemic.
