Trinidad: 2 persons arrested in possession of firearm and ammunition

 The Trinidad and Tobago Police on Thursday arrested two individuals for being in possession of a firearm

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: The Trinidad and Tobago Police on Thursday arrested two individuals for being in possession of a firearm and ammunition and a quantity of marijuana. The arrest was made during an intelligence-led Operation Strike Back 3 exercise conducted in Mt Dor Champs Fleurs between 2 am, and 7 am on Thursday 24th June 2021.

During a search warrant exercise, a 27-year-old man and 28-year-old woman, both of Champ Fleurs, were arrested for being in possession of a Taurus pistol with 15 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition.

Police also found 275 grammes of marijuana, as well as 500 fully grown marijuana trees which were discovered in the hilly terrain between Mt Dor Extension and Spring Valley Mt Dor. The marijuana trees were subsequently destroyed (burnt). The police arrested the two suspects, and more investigations are undergoing to get in close to more similar connections across the country.

The exercise was led by ACP Andy Belfon, Snr Supt Renzey Ramdeen, coordinated by Supt Montichard, W/ASP Powder, Insp Pitt, supervised by Sgt La Pierre, Cpl Forde, Cpl Superville, Cpl Gooding and included officers of the NDTF West, NDTF Central, NDTF Intel, NDTF East, Area East Ops Unit, TTPS K-9, and Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard.
