Dominica and Syria sign agreement on establishing diplomatic relations
Roseau, Dominica: The diplomatic relations between the Commonwealth of Dominica and Syria are at the building stage. Earlier this week, both nations signed an agreement that would establish the ties.

The Government of Dominica has officially announced the termination of the "Agreement" between Dominica and Syria. Please refer to the link for more information.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at the permanent Syrian delegation to the United Nations headquarters.

The update was shared by the Citizenship by Investment Unit of Dominica. It took Twitter and notified, “Earlier this week, Dominica and Syria signed an agreement on establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries. The agreement signing ceremony held at the headquarters of Syria’s permanent delegation to the United Nations.”

The agreement, as mentioned earlier, was signed by the Permanent Representative of Syria to the United Nations – Bassam Sabbagh, and the Permanent Representative of the Commonwealth of Dominica to the United Nations – Loreen Bannis-Roberts.

After the signing of the agreement, both nations are optimistic that this relationship will grow healthier and stronger. This agreement will also contribute to the enhancement of various other matters both nations are dealing with.

Sabbagh outlined that the establishment of the diplomatic relations between both nations will introduce the establishment of multifaceted bilateral communication, cooperation and coordination, in addition to exchanging support at international forums.

Meanwhile, Roberts stated that she hoped that bilateral opportunities between both countries were discovered and developed in various fields.

As per the reports, The agreement also expresses both sides' desire to adhere to the high standards set forth in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, as well as to form bilateral partnerships in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 and to share experience for the benefit of both nations.

The government of Dominica has been continuously working towards the upliftment of the Dominican. From the launch of the Kalinago Development Fund (KDF) to the rehabilitation of the Wills Strathmore Stevens Primary School in Marigot, the government has been working to strengthen the Caribbean nation.
