Surfer killed in an shark attack in California
A surfer lost his life due to an alleged shark attack in California. Officials stated the incident happened on Christmas eve.

The victim was identified as a 31-year-old bodyboarder. Officials stated the man was originally assisted by a nearby female surfer who dragged him to the beach.
Early Friday, Morro Bay police replied to a complaint of a male victim "unresponsive on the beach after he was retrieved from the sea."
The person, who has not been named, was declared dead on the site. An examination has been launched. People were prohibited from entering the water for 24 hours after the incident.
The incident happened at a beach between San Jose and Los Angeles, Morro Bay is about midway.
The Harbour Patrol head Eric Endersby called the incident very "tragic" and stated due to the weather and heavy gusts; there had been very few surfers at the beach. He said following the incident; the seas has been closed down for safety.Although there have been multiple shark attacks in the area in recent years, this is the first death from one since 2003.
In 2012, a shark slew a male surfer near Surf Beach in Santa Barbara County, about 100 kilometres (62 miles) south of Morro Bay.
