As per reports, around six persons were killed in six days in the community of St James.  The most recent happening occurred on Saturday, Mount Pellier when a recording artist was shot dead while one person was brutally injured. The police identified the deceased from his stage name "'Kapella Don".  The week of murders  The previous week in St James has been the most bloodshedding since the New Year started. One person was killed on each day of the week, consisting of six murders in the parish.  On Wednesday, 19 January, Shavon Green, 26, of Unity Crescent and Farm Height, was shot and died in his neighbourhood in broad daylight at 3 pm.  On Tuesday, 17 January, Two persons identified as a 24-year-old Nakeem Erskine, also known as 'Buzz Man' of Retirement in Granville, and 23-year-old Mohan Morris, popularly known as 'Rick' of Lime Tree Lane in Flankers, was shot and killed by gunmen.  Starting from 1 January 2021, there have been 18 killings in St James, notwithstanding the other massacres taking place in Jamaica.  Clifford Chambers, Assistant Commissioner of Police for Area One, said that officers of the Specialised Operations Branch in Kingston are assisting law enforcement in the area.  "We are now noticing a different pattern in killings where members of the same gangs are turning against one other, and we are also witnessing where fraudsters are caught up in negative tensions, and family members are then attacked," he said.
