Dominica to host 2nd OECS/ECCB International Netball Series Competition

Dominica will b hosting the 2nd OECS/ECCB International Netball Series Competition from 10 February to 18 February 2022.

Dominica to host 2nd OECS/ECCB International Netball Series Competition
Roseau: Dominica will b hosting the 2nd Organisation of the Eastern Caribbean States/Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (OECS/ECCB) International Netball Series Competition. It is scheduled to be played from 10 February t0 18 February 2022 in Roseau. Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, stated that the competition would be held at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourts under strict coronavirus related guidelines. The event will be hosted by the Dominica Netball Association.  He said the competition was scheduled for November 2021; however, it was postponed due to the hike in coronavirus cases.  PM stated that the hosting of the 2nd OECS/ECCB International Netball Series Competition is a positive move for sports in Dominica and will certainly help the popularity of the game in the country.  "I urge all of you to embrace the upcoming games and help to make the tournament a success," stated Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit on Sunday during his weekly show. As per reports, four local umpires were selected to officiate at the second edition. Following persons are chosen by the committee

Besides this, Deborah Lynch Theobalds Yvette Smith will be the UAP's for the competition.    The event was scheduled to be played in Antigua and Barbuda, but due to coronavirus and other facilities, it was moved to Dominica. The new forecourts at Windsor Park Sports Stadium are fully-equipped with all modern amenities to ensure the competition meets its international standards.  The government of Dominica is yet to formally announce any coronavirus protocols for the event; however, it is speculated that only vaccinated audiences will be allowed entry, social distancing measures to be practised. It is not clear if the persons are required to bring a negative Antigen testing report taken 24-hours before the competition.
