Devonne Cornelius of the Gingerland Secondary School has been named the new junior tourism minister in Nevis.
He will represent the island at the Regional Tourism Youth Congress in Grenada later this year.
The competition, which took place on Thursday at the Nevis Performing Arts Centre, mirrored a roundtable discussion of Caribbean ministers covering tourism issues.
In the first half, presenters spoke for three minutes on a choice of three topics. The next part saw presenters pick a mystery topic out of a box.
Odama Prince and Ricardo Caines represented Nevis International School, Breandra Liburd and Dahlia Slack represented Charlestown Secondary School and Devonne Cornelius and Thalia Dore represented the Gingerland Secondary School.
Cornelius was named tourism youth minister, with a score of 530. Slack came second, with 523 points.
The Regional Tourism Youth Congress features representatives from between 15 and 20 islands.
Winners of the Nevis competition have participated in the regional competition since 2007, winning in 2013 and 2014.
