One dead and several injured in a fatal road accident in Guyana

Overspeeding is the culprit behind frequent road accidents happening in Guyana. On Monday, one person died while several got injured in a brutal accident at Buxton East Coast.

The fatal accident happened on the Stewartville Public Road West Coast Demerara involving motorcar PRR 2014 driven by Anthony Ralph, aged 33yrs of Buxton East Coast Demerara.

The car occupant Alejandra Brazon died on the spot. At the same time, other Venezuelan National, aged 20yrs, Kataleena female Venezuelan National age unknown, Alexandra female Venezuelan National age unknown all of Stewartville West Coast Demerara and Urelis Gonsalves, female Venezuelan National age 22yrs of Pouderyon West Bank Demerara sustained injuries.

Eyewitnesses said that the car was going at a very high speed, and the driver attempted to overtake another car. The driver lost control and hit a GPL post on the northern wall, then ended up in a channel on the northern side.

As a consequence of the collision, the driver and occupants sustained injuries. They were all plucked out in an unconscious state and taken to Leonora Cottage Hospital, where they were seen and reviewed by a doctor on duty.

Alejandra Brazon was declared dead on arrival, while the others were later transferred to West Demerara Regional Hospital. Doctors stated that all other injured are in a stable condition and will recover in some time. While the dead body was taken to Ezekiel Funeral Parlour awaiting a PME.
