Guyana: A 52-year-old man was stabbed to death by another man in Guyana during an altercation. The incident took place around 5 pm on Wednesday in front of a grocery store near Vlissengen Square, East Ruimveldt.
The victim was identified as Shawn George aged 52 who is a resident of Vlissenggen Square, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to the police officials, the victim was at the Grocery shop sitting on a bench when the suspect drove past him on his bike and called him Anti Man. The victim reportedly got angry and shouted back at him to tell him the same thing on his face.
This led to the suspect coming back to him, and they both got into an altercation. During the scuffle, the two men ended up in a drain, after which the suspect pulled a knife from his pants' waist and stabbed the victim four times on his left forearm and abdomen.
After carrying out the brutal act, the 34-year-old suspect fled the scene on his motorcycle and left the victim wounded in the drain.
The passerby subsequently picked up George and rushed him to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for treatment. The police officials added that the victim died while receiving treatment.
The matter has been reported to the police officials who also investigated the crime scene after which they have launched an investigation into the incident and are seeking the suspect.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased is presently at the GPHC mortuary and is awaiting a post-mortem examination while the investigations continue.
On the other hand, the citizens and residents have also expressed their condolences over the demise of the victim.
"So unfortunate that all these things have to happen. All kind of disaster plaguing society," wrote a user named Ricky Speed, while another user said, "Some people are so ignorant in that country, you've to be very careful."
