Dominica: 52 homes in Petite Savanne Resettlement handed over to displaced families

Wednesday, 27th March 2019

As many as 52 new homes in the Petite Savanne Resettlement project at Bellevue Chopin has been handed over to Petite Savanne residents who were displaced by Tropical Storm Erika in 2015.

The families who will occupy this new set of dwellings received their keys at a ceremony which was held at Bellevue Chopin on Tuesday.

Last year, 38 homes were handed over to the Petite Savanne residents out of a total of 380 homes that are being constructed in Bellevue Chopin Community.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit had earlier said that "After March phase, in the middle of April, we’ll have another 24 to 36 homes ready and at the end of April another 30 will be handed over to the displaced families and we're hoping by the end of May we would move in everybody into those homes."
